Spokane, WA — Broad River Retail, one of the largest and fastest-growing Ashley licensees, proudly announces the company’s expansion into the Inland Northwest with a significant investment in Spokane, Washington.
BRR’s first location in the region will be a three-level, 101,249-square-foot Ashley Store and Outlet at 4750 North Division Street, in the former Macy’s at NorthTown Mall. It will be one of the largest Ashley locations in the world.
“After months of analysis, we’re launching an iconic Ashley Store & Outlet in Spokane’s prime retail corridor, transforming a former Macy’s into a stunning, three-story showroom,” said Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail Chief Executive Officer. “This incredible space will feature a robust Ashley showroom, a dedicated Outlet, and an expansive Sleep Shop with more than 80 mattresses to choose from—all under one roof.”
This location is the first of its kind—the only three-level store that features Ashley’s latest 7.0 store design. With a modern open layout and residential-style lighting, this innovative store design creates a welcoming shopping experience where guests can easily envision how furniture will look in their homes.
The two-in-one Ashley will offer a complete home furnishings experience, making it easier for customers to find exactly what they need:
- Ashley Store: A large showroom featuring the best-selling exclusive Ashley collections for every room.
- Ashley Outlet: A dedicated space for stylish, budget-friendly furniture.
- Sleep Shop: The Spokane Sleep Shop will be bigger than most mattress stores, offering twice the selection and a variety of premium brands—all under one roof. Top brands include Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster, Sealy, Purple, Ashley Sleep, Nectar, and Bedgear. Our guests will discover the perfect mattress with a lifestyle base and elevate their sleep like never before.
“Expanding into Spokane is an exciting milestone,” said Manny Rodrigues, President and Chief Operating Officer of Broad River Retail. “This vibrant city, with its rich cultural heritage and growing community, is the perfect place for Ashley, the number one name in home furnishings. We’re thrilled to provide career opportunities and help our guests create spaces where life’s best memories are made.”
This new Ashley location will create approximately 30 jobs across various roles, including retail sales, retail leadership, and distribution center operations. Broad River Retail is looking to hire key positions, including General Manager and District Manager, to oversee retail sales in the region. Interested candidates can reach out via email at talentteam@shopashley.com. Additionally, the company is exploring options for industrial space to establish a future distribution center, aiming to serve the greater Spokane market better.
Broad River Retail is committed to investing in its team members, who are known as Memory Makers. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and one of the best compensation programs in the industry. In 2024, the average earnings for home furnishings salespersons at Broad River Retail was $81,000, with top performers earning an average of $160,000.
“We’ve built a disciplined, growth-ready company by strengthening our financial health, investing in IT and infrastructure, and empowering our leaders to think like entrepreneurs,” said Rodrigues.
Headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina, Broad River Retail operates Ashley stores across the Carolinas and Georgia, serving communities in Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, and Western North Carolina; Columbia and Upstate South Carolina; and Augusta, Georgia. This expansion into Spokane marks the company’s first step westward.
“We’ve traditionally expanded into markets close to our existing ones, but when we widened our scope, Spokane quickly became a top priority,” said Malouf. “This new Ashley Store is the beginning of our journey in the Inland Northwest. This store is a significant investment in the region and a very important first step toward our long-term growth plan. Our strategy has always been to build out markets with multiple stores, and we’re already searching for additional retail sites to serve the area.”
Broad River Retail thanks Julius M. Feinblum Real Estate for their representation in the transaction and for assisting with future site selections. The Ashley Furniture Store Design Team and the Ashley Furniture Business Development Team played key roles in bringing the store to life.
The Spokane Ashley Store & Outlet is set to open by the end of the year.
